Tongue

Acrylic on canvas. 5" x 7"

This is a self-portrait I painted during a stressful and busy time in my life. My exaggerated expression depicts my release of emotions though a humorous gesture. The sharp pops of color represent the burst of energy

I was trying to capture.

Rida's Shelf

Oil on canvas. 10" x 20"

Whenever I visit my friend's house, I admire her bookshelf and the items resting on it. Since there is a limited amount of space on her shelf, the objects and books she has chosen to put there are all meaningful to her, and I love to learn about the stories behind them all. I had a thought about how when she is procrastinating on homework and her glance shifts around the room, she would divert her attention to the bookshelf and reminisce. The dreamy colors I chose to paint the bookshelf are meant to depict its ability to transport her into a memory.

Blue Lamp

Acrylic on paper. 10" x 12"

This is a still life painting I created in a weekly acrylic painting class I took at the Princeton Arts Council. I experimented with objects around the room, such as paper towels, to achieve the texture of the lamp shade.

My oil study of Marko Popadic's photograph Oko

Oil on canvas. 4" x 7"

When I imagine a skull, or bones, I think of them to be white, and monotone. Marko Popadic's photograph proved me wrong, and painted this without using any pure white paint directly on the canvas.

Peace

Acrylic on paper. 7" x 12"

This is an observational painting of my hand I created in a weekly acrylic painting class I took at the Princeton Arts Council. I was practicing using a mixture of colors that are already used in the piece to create shadows, which was a strategy my teacher had just talked about.

Tunnel Vision

Acrylic on paper 9" x 12"

I created this piece by using strictly black and white paints. I mixed the tones and played with adding water to the paint to achieve an effect of depth, with the goal of making the dark subject of the painting pop.

07

Submerged

Oil on canvas 8" x 10"

This painting contrasts the melancholic mood of the subject with the bright and cheerful colors of his unexpected situation.

Edmund's Farm

Oil on Canvas 5" x 7"

This is a bridge on my friend's farm in New Jersey. It captures a hidden place of unexpected beauty.

Candlelight

Oil on canvas 5" x 7"

I painted this work only by candlelight in order to experiment with shadows and light.
